CHRIC receives funding for three home repair programs


The Chautauqua Home Rehabilitation and Improvement Corporation (CHRIC) recently received funding from the New York State Office of Community Renewal for three home repair programs designed to help seniors who have emergency repair needs and people with disabilities who require accessibility modifications, including dedicated funding for veterans who require accessibility modifications.

These programs can provide emergency home repairs such as broken windows, doors and water heaters, as well as home modifications such as wheelchair ramps, walk-in showers, lifts. -stairs that will make the house safe, according to individual needs. . Programs are available to homeowners throughout Chautauqua County. Only owner-occupied homes can be assisted, although modifications may be required by a household member who does not own the home. To be eligible, the homeowner must be income qualified and up to date with their mortgage, property taxes and homeowners insurance. Annual household income must be less than $38,850 for a one-person household, and limits continue to increase with household size. A more generous income allowance is available for veterans.
